Episode 142 with UltrAspire Team Manager Ricky Urias: An “Ordinary” Ultrarunner Doing Extraordinary Things

In this episode we talk with ultrarunner and UltrAspire Team Manager Ricky Urias, an “Ordinary” ultrarunner doing extraordinary things, about:

  • His journey to Top 10 at Zion 100
  • How he listens to his body mid-race for fueling and hydration cues

UltrAspire Athlete Manager, Ricky Urias, may not be a pro athlete, but he’s proven he’s a force to be reckoned with on the trails. He started trail running for the pure joy and feeling of freedom he feels, but that joy also landed him most recently in the Top 10 at Zion 100 miler. He considers himself just an average guy trying to live life above average. He’s been married for 21 years to his wife Chele, and has 3 kids and one grandson. After spending most of his life doing blue collar jobs, in 2024 he decided he wanted to take a new path, and was hired on by UltrAspire part-time before becoming the company’s athlete manager.
